What is PIG FARM SWOT Analysis?

This is a study conducted to identify its internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as its external opportunities and threats in operating & owning Pig Farm business.

STRENGTH

There are few major pig farm business players in the town. In fact, there’s only one known piggery store around the area but are always lacking of products or produce due to the demand of the costumers. Due to the lack of supply, we can favorably create more produce to supply the demand of the costumers while maximizing our full potential to excel in the market. Knowing that we’ll be hiring the best hands in livestock farming we can confidently boast our business to its potential.

WEAKNESS

Our weakness could be the livestock farming machines, tools & equipment that will help us breed pigs and other livestock in commercial quantities. We are aware of this and from our projection will overcome this weakness and turn it into major advantage for the business.

OPPORTUNITY

The opportunities that are available to us as a pig farm business cannot be quantified. We know that there are loads of people and industries that would source for pigs, pork products, and even raw materials from our livestock farm here in Eastern Samar.

THREAT

There are MINOR & MAJOR threat that we'll might encounter in operating and owning Pig Farm business:

MINOR THREAT

There are few players of piggery pig farm business in the town that could support the demand of costumers, and few big pig farm business owners around the province. There are big companies outside the province that exports or supplies pigs that would likely be a threat for small players especially with those who are just starting the business. Business players from the city of Davao supplies the whole province with pigs having a very low prices compared with the prices we have in the province.

MAJOR THREAT

There are highly contagious and deadly swine diseases that can affect both farm-raised and feral (wild) pigs. The most common disease is SWINE FEVER. Although there are other deadly diseases but most likely this disease occurs a lot and could spread all throughout the country. Common diseases are the following:

• Hog Cholera or Classical Swine Fever
  
• Swine Dysentery
• Pneumonia-disease complex
• Roundworm Infection
